The Best Equipment for the Best Product.

High Quality Drones for the best dynamic range (ability to see brights and shadows at the same time). Check out this footage of the Mavic Air 2 from Durham, NC (left) and a trip to Corolla, NC (below).

The right drone, with the right filter, results in the best footage. Shooting without an ND Filter to reach a 1/50 shutter speed results in anything other than cinema quality footage.

If you aren’t familiar with it, the cinematic frame rate for film is 24 frames per second (24 fps). The shutter speed should be double the frame rate to give a smooth, and professional looking, final product.

Why does it look so much better?

I already had experience in photography BEFORE getting my pilot’s license. This transferred directly to cinematography.

The Cinematography Principles I’ve learned are easily applied to drones. In fact, for videography, it is critical to have an understanding of framing and movement. Such as how to calibrate the gimbal and functions in the drone to move smoothly, as well as the muscle memory to control it.

Camera Quality Matters. So Does Post Processing.

It's all edited and processed.

Footage and photos are processed quickly to do things like remove trash in the landscape, recover from bad lighting conditions and weather, as well as enhancing shadows and shooting bracketed HDR so that all the image is visible, such as these before and after photos above.
